Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry 21 1/2 Qt Pressure Cooker
Of all the pressure cookers we have looked at, the Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry's 21 1/2 Quart Pressure Cooker ranks among the best. It is made of heavy cast aluminum so it is sturdy, tough and durable. But this advantage may also be a negative as this is a fairly heavy item, weighing in at over 20 pounds. It doesn't take a WWF wrestler to lift, but it can be quite a workout if it is filled with water, etc.
One of the best features of the Wisconsin Pressure Cooker is that it does not require rings or gaskets. It has screw-downs that keep the lid connected to the cooker. This makes it safer and ultimately more convenient as you will not be searching for gaskets in a few years when the old one wears out.
This is an excellent pressure cooker for both cooking and canning. It will hold up to 10 pint jars and 7 quart jars. This means that you can do your canning in decent sized batches. But with every advantage, comes a disadvantage. The pot is fairly tall, so you need to be certain to have some headroom over the stove. There should be at least 16 inches between your stove and the range hood.
There are three settings on the Regulator valve allowing you a degree of flexibility in your cooking endeavors. What is really amazing about this item is that it is made right here in the good ol' USA.
This is a nice item and well worth the current asking price of just under $165.00 at Amazon.com.
